The boys of Bikewagon.com make instructional videos.
Check it out: We’re working on a bunch of videos to help the world become a little more self-reliant when it comes to working on bikes. The guys are filming right now. This picture is of our bike-expert-in-residence, Marc (soon to be known to our readers as “heftybeans”), doing his thing and educating the masses. Pretty exciting, huh?
If you have a particular video you’d like to see us make, let us know. We’re happy to take requests. Otherwise check back in a few days to see the final product.

Will you do a video to show how to true a wheel? I have wanted to know how that is done but there aren’t really good videos out there on how to do it.
Comment by Alan February 12, 2009 @ 6:23 pmGood question, Marc said that he would make such video, hopefully it will be up by the end of March.
Comment by Dale P. February 12, 2009 @ 6:25 pmGood idea. I’ve been waiting for someone to put together a series of good maintenance videos.
I think eventually you should try to cover almost everything, but a good start would honestly be all the basic repair so many people struggle with or don’t know how to do. Minor derailleur and brake adjustment, other little things that people often shell out too much for and are easy to do at home.
Once all the basics are covered, i would go ahead and cover everything. Repacking bearings, removing and installing new parts across the bike, tuning your suspension, bleeding hydro brakes… Sheldon brown is fantastic, but some up-to-date, free videos could be a hugely important resource with all the folks who ride these days… If your not already, i’d put them all on a nice youtube channel as well, make them as easy to find as possible.
Nice blog, and best of luck with the videos.
Oh, and like alan said, some quality wheel building and truing videos would be fantastic.

Comment by dalepmajors February 22, 2009 @ 8:52 pmThanks for the suggestions, I think we will take your advice on doing all the basics first. We will have the first four live here in two weeks, I would love to hear what you think about them. I will get a suggestions link started so we can gather info on the requests, and get some ideas on exactly what people want to know.
Thanks a ton!
